The coin of is dedicated to Bubo Bubo, a sedentary and migratory bird - the only representative of this species in the fauna of Ukraine. Its prevailing population is concentrated mostly at the western parts of the country. This species is on the endangered-species list of Ukraine
On the coin reverse there is a depiction of Bubo bubo, sitting on a oak twig and circular inscriptions: ПУГАЧ and BUBO BUBO
On the coin obverse within the window frame, formed by depictions of various species of flora and fauna there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine is depicted and the four-line inscriptions: on the silver coin: УКРАЇНА, 10, ГРИВЕНЬ, 2002, (Ukraine/ 10/ hryvnia/ 2002), as well as the designation of the metal, its fineness and its weight in fineness.
