The inscriptions along the rim framed by a circle of dots: at the top — «3 РУБЛЯ 1993 г.» (3 RUBLES 1993), at the bottom — "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA). + Feodor Ivanovich Shaliapin (1873-1938) - an outstanding Russian bass singer, who first performed in Savva Mamontov's Moscow Private Opera House and then in the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres. He was unsurpassed in the leading roles of the Russian classical operas "Boris Godunov", "The Mermaid", "Pskovitjanka" ("The Girl from Pskov") and "A Life for the Tsar".
