The age of the Enlightenment in architecture was a time when a great number of buildings of different kinds were erected. A masterpiece of the XVIIIth century church architecture is the Trinity Cathedral of the Alexandro-Nevskaya Lavra, which was founded by Peter the Great as the principal Petersburg monastery dedicated to the Trinity and canonised Prince Alexander Nevsky. Built in 1776-1790 (architect Ivan Starov), the Trinity Cathedral is the compositional center of the Lavra. a view of the Trinity Cathedral of the Alexandro-Nevskaya Lavra and the depiction of the Order of Alexander Nevsky. Under the depiction of the cathedral - the inscription "САНКТ-ПЕТЕРБУРГ" (ST. PETERSBURG), the inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ЭПОХА ПРОСВЕЩЕНИЯ. ХVIII ВЕК" (THE AGE OF THE ENLIGHTENMENT. THE XVIIIth Century), at the bottom - "ТРОИЦКИЙ СОБОР" (THE TRINITY CATHEDRAL). the two-headed eagle (designed by artist I. Bilibin), the letters below indicate the metal sign, the fineness, the mint trademark and the fine metal content. The inscriptions along the rim: at the top — «3 РУБЛЯ 1992 г.» (3 RUBLES 1992), at the bottom — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA). The artist: A.V. Baklanov The sculptor: L.S.
