Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky (Alexeyev) (5/17.01.1863–07.08.1938) — the producer, actor, pedagogue, theorist and reformer of the Russian Theatre. In 1898, together with V.I. Nemirovich-Dantschenko he founded the Moscow Artistic Theatre. When staging plays by A. Chekhov and M. Gorky they cleared new ways to develop the producer and actor art. In the beginning of the 20th century Stanislavsky worked out his studies about the actor’s work which is known as the System of Stanislavsky and which became an aesthetic and professional base for the staging realism. Since 1918 K.S. Stanislavsky headed the Opera School of the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow. This School became later the Stanislavsky Opera Theatre. The Museum of Stanislavsky was set up in Moscow in 1948
