The National Bank of Kazakhstan has issued this silver coin as part of the “Flora of Kazakhstan” series. The coin is dedicated to the Peacock Poppy (Papaver Pavoninum), an annual plant with scarlet petals bearing a dark spot at the base and found in Central Asia.
The obverse of the coin is decorated with an embossed composition of leaves. To the left of the image there is the legend indicating the designation of metal, its fineness and the coin’s pure weight and the inscription of the coin’s face value. There is the National Bank of Kazakhstan logo above the image and the inscriptions “National Bank of Kazakhstan” both in Kazakh and English along the upper rim.
Featured on the reverse, there is the image of the Peacock Poppy flowers, one of them depicted as a hologram. In the course of history, poppies have always been attributed important medicinal properties.Poppy seeds are used in cooking and pharmaceutics. Along the rim of this silver coin, there is the legend indicating the name of the flower both in Kazakh and Latin. The reverse also contains the trademark of Kazakhstan Mint of the National Bank of Kazakhstan. To the left of the image, there is the inscription of the coin’s mintage year.
