---------------------
The almiqui (Cuban solenodon) is a primitive mammal, only found at certain woods on Oriental provinces of Cuba. colored from light brown to black, they feed mostly from insects from insects, but also other small animals, roots, fruits. Has a long nose, and tail, and his saliva is venomous, possibly to immobilize some of their catches.
It was considered extinct from 1970, as no living specimens were found from 1890, but later, on 1974 and 1975 three were captured, and later some more were seen. Anyways, is very rare. Up to date, only 37 were captured so far, last one on 2003, named Alejandrito, was studied for 2 days, found healthy, and then released back into the wild.
