Ukraine 20 Hryven 1997 - The Savior Catheadral in Chernihiv - Proof / Silver

The is dedicated to the Saint Saviour`s Cathedral, the outstanding architectural monument of Kyiv Rus, erected in 1033-1034 during the rule of Chernihiv Prince Mstyslav, a son of the Great Prince Volodymyr On the coin reverse in centre there is depicted the Savior Cathedral`s western facade. Around the coin circumference there are inscriptions: ЧЕРНІГІВ (Chernihiv)- on the left, СПАСЬКИЙ СОБОР(the Savior Cathedral`s)- above and ХI ст (11th c.)- to the right. The inscriptions are separated from one another with solar signs. Underneath, there is a ribbon with the inscription: ДУХОВНІ СКАРБИ УКРАЇНИ (Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine) On the coin obverse in the circle made of a conventionalized vegetal ornamentation there is a fragment depiction of `Holy Teklya` fresco of 11th century. Above, there is the small National Emblem of Ukraine. Around the coin circumference there is an inscription: УКРАЇНА. Underneath - the year of issue - 1997 and in two lines: 20 ГРИВЕНЬ, the coin`s face value. The word ГРИВЕНЬ is located around the coin circumference.
